January 15, 2017The LSU Tigers hosted an elite group of recruits this past weekend. Here’s a recap of what went down for Ed Orgeron’s team.
Let’s get right into the main storyline. Marvin Wilson, arguably the biggest uncommitted name left on the board, took an official visit to Baton Rouge this past weekend. However, it wasn’t without its bumps before he even got to campus.
Both Florida State and Oklahoma snuck in visits with the 5-star defensive tackle before he left for Baton Rouge, but it didn’t stop him from having a great time with Ed Orgeron’s staff and some of the current LSU commits.
Wilson appeared to enjoy himself.

One of the current Tigers commits, 4-star cornerback Kary Vincent Jr., has been actively recruiting Wilson to LSU for a long time. Vincent has also been recruiting someone he could potentially share the Tigers secondary with, Todd Harris. The 4-star safety has not been too vocal about his visit this past weekend but appeared to have enjoyed his time there.
Vincent, who announced he’ll wear No. 15 next season, has also been recruiting someone he could potentially share the Tigers secondary with, Todd Harris. The 4-star safety has not been too vocal about his visit this past weekend but appeared to have enjoyed his time there.
Another big-time target for LSU is 4-star defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson. The Tigers are battling Texas for his commitment. Even though Chaisson has been equally as quiet as Harris has been regarding his visit, he did seem excited heading into the weekend.

Five-star wide receiver DeVonta Smith was another high-profile name on the guest list this past weekend, but it’s going to be an uphill battle for LSU, as Smith is an Alabama lean.
The Tigers do appear to be ahead of the Crimson Tide for 4-star defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis, though. He’s also considering TCU.

One guy who isn’t as highly ranked but is still important is 3-star wide receiver Racey McMath. With 4-star prospect Jhamon Ausbon having flipped to Texas A&M, the Tigers could use another pass catcher in the class, and McMath could be the guy. He, too, was on campus during the past couple of days.
Looking forward, LSU’s next big recruiting weekend will be next weekend. The Tigers will look to pull ahead for 4-star outside linebacker Willie Gay. He’ll be joined in Baton Rouge by 3-star wide receiver Marlon Williams, 3-star defensive end Justin Harris and a few LSU commits.
