Four-star linebacker Raymond Scott committed to USC, giving the Trojans their third commit of the 2018 class.

Raymond Scott apparently wants to play college football close to home. The 2018 outside linebacker from Harbor City, Calif. committed to USC Friday, according to 247Sports.

247Sports rates Scott as the No. 2 outside linebacker and No. 75 overall prospect.

“I just [sic] off the phone with coach [Clay] Helton and coach [Tee] Martin and told them today was the day I wanted to commit,” he said. “Today was the right day, and I knew from the start I was going to be a Trojan.”

Scott joins outside linebacker Bo Calvert and quarterback Matt Corral, both from Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, Calif., as the Trojans’ third commit of the 2018 class.

He had a message for USC fans, too.

“USC will be getting a guy who can read opposing offenses and hit them hard,” Scott said.

The good news is well timed for the Trojans, who are trying to rebuild a connection with recent decommit from their 2017 class.
