Ohio Is A Bowl Team. It Has To Prove It’s More

It was yet another solid season under head coach Frank Solich, but there wasn’t a division title at the end of the rainbow, much less a conference championship, but eight wins and a nice run to end the regular season might make this a dangerous out. It’s not a flashy team, but it’s solid, it brings a good, solid defense, and it doesn’t make a slew of mistakes. If that makes a bowl team sound sort of vanilla, that’s best it is. However, with three straight wins to close things out – including a win over Northern Illinois – the Bobcats turned out to be fine.

Appalachian State Gets To Go Bowling

The Mountaineers finally get a post-season bowl game at the FBS level after not being eligible to get in last season. With one of the nation’s top rushing teams, and one of the nation’s most efficient passing games, the nation’s 12th-best defense and one of the Sun Belt’s best pass defenses, this is one of the best Group of Five teams you probably haven’t seen. The two losses came at No. 1 Clemson and to Sun Belt champion Arkansas State – that’s not bad. With a blowout win over Georgia Southern, and ripping through the rest of the schedule, ASU is looking to prove it arrived.
