Rashan Gary committed to the Michigan Wolverines on National Signing Day.

The golden recruit of 2016, Rashan Gary, has finally ended the wait and announced he’ll be playing his college football career in Ann Arbor, Mich. Gary committed to Michigan on National Signing Day.

The No. 1 defensive tackle and No. 1 overall recruit from Paramus, N.J. felt comfortable enough with Jim Harbaugh to don blue and maize for the next three to four years.

Of course, as far as comfort goes, it certainly helps Gary to have friends going with him to Michigan. Five-star running back Kareem Walker, from Wayne, N.J., flipped to the Wolverines from the Ohio State Buckeyes a few months ago. And Michigan also secured a commitment from Walker’s teammate, Michael Dwumfour, a 3-star defensive tackle.

    Leonard Williams DT/DE

Gary is a 6-foot-4, 286-pound locomotive on the defensive line. He has the quickness and agility to slide outside on the line, but he projects as a defensive tackle in a 4-3 scheme with his strength and technique. His explosiveness and power resemble Leonard Williams when he was at USC, and if he matches Williams’ production, Gary will be able to stop the run and rush the passer from the interior — a huge weapon for Harbaugh.
