Rashan Gary has narrowed his college decision down to two schools with two days until National Signing Day.

The race for the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit, Rashan Gary, is now down to just two schools, according to Scout.com’s Brian Dohn.

Gary, also the No. 1 defensive tackle in the class of 2016, narrowed his college decision to two programs with two days left until National Signing Day. But who made the cut?

The Michigan Wolverines, the favorite to land Gary, of course are on the list. But the second team, the Clemson Tigers, has been screaming up the top recruit’s board.

“The academics, and the academic support, I was pleasantly surprised with everything at Clemson,” said Gary’s mother, Jennifer Coney, on the visit to Clemson. “The staff, the whole staff, the whole student body. I’m not talking about the football players, and the football players were phenomenal, but the whole student body. The players want them to recruit good football players because it’s only going to make them better.

Gary was originally supposed to spend his last official visit in Tuscaloosa, Ala. with Nick Saban and the defending national champion Crimson Tide. It didn’t shake out that way, though, as Gary decided to visit Clemson instead.

According to Coney, the brotherly welcome the Tigers showed Gary had a big impact on the No. 1 overall recruit.

“The football players didn’t feel threatened. They were embracing him. Rashan liked that. They were giving Rashan so much love, and I liked that. There were some schools that were like, ‘Oh, Rashan Gary.’ and knowing the (competition) would be there. But not Clemson. Those kids, oh my gosh.”

No matter which school Gary chooses, he has the ability to make an impact right away. He can plug running lanes from the inside, but he’s athletic enough to slide down the defensive line and rush the passer, too.

Come National Signing Day, either Jim Harbaugh or Dabo Swinney is going to be very, very lucky to land a commitment from the potential defensive anchor.
