February 23, 2017Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans is eyeing big goals in his senior season with the Crimson Tide.
You’ve got to like the confidence in Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans, a rising senior for the Crimson Tide and the former No. 1 OLB and No. 9 overall recruit for 2014. Evans made a bold promise this week that he would win the Butkus Award, given annually to the best linebacker in college football, in 2017. If he accomplishes such a feat, he’ll be the fifth Alabama player to win the award, and fourth since 2009 – the Tide have taken home nearly half of the Butkus Awards dating back to Saban’s first national championship in Tuscaloosa.
I'll win the Butkus Award

Evans moved to the inside linebacker position last season, tallying 53 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss and four sacks. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.
He’s played every year since stepping foot on campus in 2014.
Last season, Evans played behind superstar inside linebacker Reuben Foster, who just so happened to win the Butkus Award and is projected by some to be a top 10 NFL Draft pick.
It’s of note that both Evans and Foster attended Auburn High School, just down the road from the rival Tigers.
