    Why You Need To Care

The No. 14 Boilermakers had an impressive run to start the season, winning their first 11 games before running into the Butler Bulldogs, who handed Purdue a 74-68 loss almost two weeks ago.

The Boilermakers answered the bell by spitting out a 13-point win against Vanderbilt three days later, 68-55.

Now they’ll head to Madison, Wis. for their second road game of the season to visit the Badgers, who have been underwhelming this season — especially considering their run to the national championship game last season.

Even the loss of Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker — and now Bo Ryan — wouldn’t have led us to believe Wisconsin would have started the season 8-5. The Badgers have won back-to-back games four times so far, but they haven’t been able to win three in a row.

After beating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Green Bay two weeks ago, Wisconsin will look to break that pattern by welcoming Purdue to the Kohl Center.

    Why Purdue Will Win

The Boilermakers have hauled in the most rebounds in the nation, having pulled down 582 of those bad boys. And they’ve racked up the eighth-most assists in the country as well (241). Purdue will need to crash the boards and share the basketball to make the biggest difference. If A.J. Hammons, Isaac Haas and Caleb Swanigan split the scoring responsibilities, the Boilermakers will be looking at a win.

    Why Wisconsin Will Win

Obviously, the grueling battle will be on the glass. The Badgers have to push Swanigan and Hammons off their marks to keep them off the boards. Nigel Hayes will have to sculpt an all-around game. He’ll need to get to the basket, draw fouls and hit threes when dared to do so. If Hayes snags some rebounds, he’ll help get Wisconsin going in transition, too. Bronson Koenig has to be the one to deliver the daggers though. If Koenig drops some big buckets, the Badgers will be in a position to win.

    What’s Going To Happen?

It can be difficult to win in Madison. We know that. The Boilermakers could easily win this game, considering how Wisconsin’s season has gone so far, but this one feels like the Badgers will scratch out a win. They’re on their home floor, and Koenig will knock down some clutch threes to help put his team ahead. Purdue will win the battle on the boards, but Wisconsin will get out and run in transition and come out on top.
