The Purdue Boilermakers have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: Purdue Boilermakers

    Record:
     26-8

    Conference:
    Big Ten

    Head coach:
    Matt Painter

    How they got here:
     At-large bid

    The Good

The Boilermakers’ size sets them apart. The duo of A.J. Hammons and Isaac Haas are rarely on the floor at the same time, but they are both fantastic in the paint and can dominate on the glass. Hammons, in particular, has the length and timing to be a stopper on defense when he plays with focus. Vince Edwards, Caleb Swanigan and Rapheal Davis all can score, and they are tough defenders to boot.

    The Bad

This isn’t a team that shoots the ball well from the perimeter, and that can lead to trouble when the Boilers fall behind. The team counts on its defense to trigger its offense, and when it loses control of the tempo and games are sped up, it can struggle.

    Prediction

Matchups are everything for the Boilermakers, who are capable of knocking off elite teams but also have wandered mentally. Purdue has the size to battle anyone, but the Boilers are lacking a take-charge guard who thrives in the NCAA Tournament. A Sweet 16 run would be a surprise.
