Projected AP college basketball rankings for Week 10 of the 2015-16 season. Here’s how we predict the top 25 will look.
January 11, 2016Just how insane — mind blowingly intense — was that triple-overtime Oklahoma-Kansas game?
Somehow, one way or another, the Jayhawks outlasted an outstanding performance from Buddy Hield. The Sooners did take the loss, so they should drop. But it would be shocking if they fell outside the top three — let alone the top five.
Virginia took two losses on the road against Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech, so the Cavaliers will fall quite a bit. Arizona also dropped back-to-back games on the road against UCLA and USC, so the Wildcats are in for a drop in the rankings.
Things are really starting to heat up. Below are our projected AP college basketball rankings for Week 10.
Perry Ellis, Wayne Selden Jr. and Devonte’ Graham combined for 68 points against Oklahoma, and it’s a miracle the Jayhawks were able to dig deep down for energy to beat Texas Tech. But Kansas took down the Red Raiders, 69-59.
Melo Trimble showed out against Wisconsin with 21 points and five assists in the Terrapins’ 63-60 win over the Badgers. Neither Jake Layman nor Rasheed Sulaimon showed up like they usually do. No, instead it was Robert Carter who dropped 14 points for Maryland in the win.
Buddy Hield lit the world on fire when he dropped 46 points on Kansas. Jordan Woodard was right behind him with 27 points. In spite of the loss, the Sooners gave the Jayhawks everything they had and nearly stole one on the road. Oklahoma took down Kansas State, 86-76, to get back on track.
Denzel Valentine has returned, dropping 10 points in 23 minutes in the Spartans’ 92-65 win over Penn State. Michigan State also beat Illinois last week, 79-54.
Welcome back to the top five, North Carolina. The Tar Heels put a beating on Florida State, 106-90, and then they wrapped up the week by securing an 84-73 win against Syracuse.
