Preston Williams has officially been welcomed to Tennessee by Butch Jones. He was one of the most highly-touted recruits in 2015.
August 27, 2015Thursday has turned out to be a roller coaster ride for the Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver unit. Earlier in the day Butch Jones announced that Pig Williams had been suspended for the season opener and two receivers – Jason Croom and Vincent Perry – were undergoing knee surgery on Friday.
But not long after the bad news, Jones lifted Rocky Top’s spirits with a much-welcomed announcement. Preston Williams, one of the most highly-touted recruits from 2015, has officially joined the Vols after retaking the ACT and the NCAA approving his score. An excited Jones sent out the following tweet.
I want to OFFICIALLY welcome Preston Williams to #Team119!!! #WRU

Jones plucked Williams out of Hampton, Georgia, just south of Atlanta. He was ranked the No. 7 wide receiver and No. 48 overall player in the country by 247 Sports, and is listed at an impressive 6’4″ and 209 pounds as an 18-year-old freshman.
