The Pitt Panthers have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: Pitt Panthers

    Record: 21-11

    Conference:
    ACC

    Head coach:
    Jamie Dixon

    How they got here:
     At-large bid

    The Good

It’s tough to match the scoring and rebounding of Michael Young and Jamel Artis, two players who can dominate every time out and can distribute the ball to boot. James Robinson provides some slashing and is a fantastic passer, and Dixon keeps his players fresh by going to the bench early and often.

    The Bad

Pitt struggled this season to score wins over top quality competition, which will make it difficult for the Panthers to stick around for long in the NCAA Tournament. The issue isn’t a lack of scoring from the top three, but the drop off after that group is steep, and foul trouble is a huge issue when it hits.

    Prediction

Pitt has a team that should get through the first round without a problem, but beyond that, anything goes. This is a team that is 2-6 vs. RPI top 50 teams and 9-8 vs. the top 100. Oh, and Pitt stumbled to the finish line in the regular season and in the ACC Tourney. Upset candidate in the second round.
