1. Penn State got enough out of the offense, and the D did the rest. Christian Hackenberg got it to Saquon Barkley who took it 22 yards for a score to start out the scoring, but SDSU answered on the ensuing kickoff with Rashaad Penny returning it for a score.
2. The Aztecs had the lead in the second quarter on a Mikah Holder 19-yard touchdown, but Penn State owned the rest of the half on a 13-yard Mark Allen catch and an 11-yard Chris Godwin scoring grab.
3. The Nittany Lions finally pulled away with ten unanswered points – but the touchdown came from the defense on a 71-yard fumble return for a score.
– Christian Hackenberg completed 21-of-35 passes for 296 yards and three scores.
– Saeed Blacknall caught four passes for 101 yards. Chris Godwin caught five passes for 78 yards and a score.
