Trace McSorley threw a seven-yard strike to Juwan Johnson with no time remaining as #4 Penn State survived in a 21-19 win over Iowa on Saturday. McSorley’s game-winning pass went just over the outstretched arms of Iowa’s Amani Hooker and quieted a raucous crowd at Kinnick Stadium.

Iowa took the lead with 1:42 left after running back Akrum Wadley ran for a 35-yard touchdown. Wadley also had a 70-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter to get the Hawkeyes within two points.

Penn State got out to a 5-0 lead before Iowa struck late in the first half when Nick Easley caught a 21-yard pass from Nathan Stanley.

Penn State got in the end zone in the third quarter when Saquon Barkley scored from eight yards out. The running back finished the game with 211 rushing yards on 28 carries. Barkley added 12 receptions for 94 yards.

Penn State has their Big Ten home opener in Week 5 against Indiana. The Nittany Lions have the tough part of their schedule at the end of October when they host Michigan and travel to Ohio State in consecutive weeks.

Iowa hits the road next week with a trip to Michigan State.
