Non-Conference Games Kent State, at Pitt, Temple

Games vs. the West Minnesota, at Purdue, Iowa

    5 Keys to the Schedule

    – The Nittany Lions have to deal with defense over the three non-conference games, facing Kent State, Pitt and Temple. All three games will be challenging in their own way, and after losing last year to the Owls, 3-0 isn’t a guarantee.

    – They only leave Pennsylvania once until October 29th with one of the road games at Pitt. However, the Big Ten opener is at Michigan.

    – There’s a week off before the showdown against Ohio State – it’s in Happy Valley. Michigan State is also a home game, helping to offset that road trip to Michigan.

    – The dates with the West aren’t awful missing Wisconsin and Nebraska, and with the one real nasty game – Iowa – at home. Minnesota at home along with a trip to Purdue are manageable.

    – WATCH OUT FOR … a not bad, but interesting late season stretch of three road games in four weeks. That’s never fun, but going to Purdue, Indiana and Rutgers is as easy as a road run gets. Those all work around a home date with Iowa.
