Four-star outside linebacker Payton Wilson revealed his top seven schools on Tuesday night, showing love to programs from the ACC, Big Ten and SEC.

All it took was a conversation with Urban Meyer to pique Payton Wilson’s interest in Ohio State. Of course, it helped that the Buckeyes head coach offered the 4-star prospect a scholarship, but the point is Ohio State is seriously being considered by the Hillsborough, North Carolina native.

In fact, the Buckeyes ended up making the cut for Wilson’s top seven schools, which he unveiled on Tuesday night.

Along with Ohio State, Wilson included Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina, Penn State and Virginia Tech. There was not an order to his list.

Wilson released a statement regarding his decision to narrow down his schools to seven.

“I would like to thank all of the teams that have recruited me during my process. Through much thought, prayer and conversation with my family, I have decided to narrow my college choices down to seven teams.”

Some of the schools Wilson left off his list that also have scholarships on the table include Auburn, Florida State, Maryland, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Wisconsin.

Of the teams to make the cut, Dabo Swinney’s Tigers were the last to enter the race. They offered Wilson on Feb. 11, only four days after Meyer informed Wilson he had a scholarship waiting for him in Columbus.

The last visit the 4-star linebacker took was on Jan. 28 when he spent an unofficial visit at North Carolina.
