Four-star athlete Paulson Adebo decommitted from Notre Dame, leaving the Fighting Irish with 16 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.
Brian Kelly’s Fighting Irish started Monday morning ranked as the No. 10 recruiting class in the 2017 cycle. That was before they lost one of their 13 4-star commits.
Four-star recruit Paulson Adebo has reportedly decommitted from Notre Dame, according to 247Sports. The Irish now have 16 total commits in its 2017 class and fell to No. 13 in the class rankings following Adebo’s decision.
The Mansfield, Texas native is ranked as the No. 16 athlete and No. 213 overall player in the country. He’s also ranked as the No. 4 athlete in the Lone Star State.
He originally gave his pledge to Notre Dame on June 20, but now it’s David Shaw’s Cardinal who has emerged as the leading contender to land Adebo.
Stanford has been heating up on the recruiting trail as of late. On Saturday, it picked up a commitment from 5-star prospect Foster Sarell, the No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 2 overall player in the nation. The Cardinal already had pledges from 5-star prospects Walker Little (No. 2 OT), Davis Mills (No. 1 QB) and Colby Parkinson (No. 1 TE).
Assuming Adebo, who also plays cornerback, makes the full-time switch to wide receiver, Stanford could be loading up its future offense with a slew of blue-chip recruits.
At 6-foot-1, 180 pounds Adebo is an above-average route runner and has great body control. He’s the type of receiver who can take a five-yard slant and turn it into a 40-yard gain. He’s dangerous after the catch.
