Fort Lauderdale, Florida prospect Patrick Surtain Jr. has several visits in the works.

Five-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr. is one of the hottest names on the recruiting trail right now. The son of three-time NFL Pro Bowler Patrick Surtain, Surtain Jr. is the No. 1 cornerback and No. 8 overall player in the CI 25. He’s as elite as elite gets in the 2018 recruiting class.

Since the flip of the calendar to 2017, Surtain Jr. has taken multiple visits and still has several more on the horizon. He’s already been to national champion Clemson, Florida and Miami, in that order.

As for what’s in front, Surtain Jr. plans to visit the perceived clubhouse leader in his recruitment, the LSU Tigers, in the near future. The Tigers have long been considered the favorite to land Surtain Jr. He’s also listed the Florida State Seminoles in his top two, saying recently “LSU and FSU out front, then right behind them Clemson, Ohio State and Miami.”

“LSU, Ohio State, Florida again, and I want to visit Michigan,” Surtain Jr. told Luke Stampini of 247Sports. “I know I’m visiting LSU the 25th (of March).”

Surtain Jr. has spent the most time so far with the nearby Miami Hurricanes, having taken several unofficial visits to Coral Gables. He plays his high school ball for American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, approximately an hour north of Miami’s campus. Out of the schools mentioned, Miami was the first to offer back in his freshman year.

However, despite his connection with the Hurricanes, it could be his dad and family’s with Louisiana that plays a bigger role in his recruitment. His dad is originally from New Orleans and he “loved LSU” growing up.
