Step Five: Don’t keep the other team in the game with giveaways.
It’s going to take the right performance by the right team on the right day to beat Ohio State this season, and that’s going to have to include a slew of screw-ups to help the cause.
So far under Meyer, the Buckeyes have made up for their problems with big takeaways, coming up with 33 last season, but they sometimes made things more interesting than they should’ve been.
During a tough three-game stretch against Michigan State, Minnesota and Indiana – you laugh now, but remember, the Hoosiers gave the eventual national champ a massive push for a while – OSU was -7 in turnover margin. As dominant as the national championship win over Oregon was, imagine what the score would’ve been had the Buckeyes not been -3.
Michigan State managed to win the 2013 Big Ten championship even though the Buckeyes won the turnover battle. Don’t expect anything like that to happen this year.
Path To The Playoff: Ohio State
– Step One: Accept that the quarterback situation is going to be a distraction and just live with it
– Step Two: You’re the defending national champion. Act the part
– Step Three: Dominate, just in case
– Step Four: Depth, depth, depth. Use it
– Step Six: Stay interested until Thanksgiving
– Step Seven: For the love of Urban, HAVE FUN
– Is It Going To Happen?
