    Alamo Bowl Recap

    Score: TCU 47, Oregon 41 3OT

    Prediction: Oregon 41, TCU 39, Line: PK, o/u: 78

And You Care Because … In a classic, TCU tied the record for the biggest comeback in bowl history turning around a 31-0 deficit with a thrilling three-overtime win. Bram Kohlhausen ran for an eight-yard touchdown in the third OT, and Oregon couldn’t answer with the final throw being knocked away. Kohlhausen found Emanuel Porter for a seven-yard touchdown in the first overtime, but Oregon responded with a one-yard Royce Freeman touchdown run. The two teams traded field goals in the second overtime.

Oregon was up 31-0 with ease at halftime. Vernon Adams threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Darren Carrington, Freeman ran for two scores, and Tony Brooks-James ran for a five-yard score – everything was working. But it was a different TCU in the second half, partly because Adams left the game injured. Kohlhausen caught fire with a touchdown pass, a two-yard scoring run, and led the way to three Jared Oberkrom field goals and a two-yard Aaron Green touchdown run. Oberkrom forced overtime with a 22-yarder with 19 seconds to play. Oregon got the ball down the field late, but the final drive in regulation stalled.

    What Else?

    – TCU QB Bram Kohlhausen completed 28-of-45 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns with a pick, and ran 11 times for 45 yards and two scores.

    – Oregon RB Royce Freeman ran 26 times for 130 yards and three scores, and ran twice for 23 yards.

    – TCU RB Aaron Green ran 25 times for 101 yards and a score, and caught two passes for 56 yards.

    – Oregon WR Darren Carrington caught seven passes for 107 yards and a score.

    – Oregon QB Vernon Adams completed 13-of-19 passes for 197 yards and a score.

    – Total Yards: TCU 545 – Oregon 419

Game Rating: A. Now THAT’S how a bowl game should be played. Nothing was working for TCU early on, Oregon looked terrific, and all hope was lost, and then came the second half. The Horned Frogs showed tremendous fight, didn’t quit, and turned the game into a classic. It might be hokey, but that was the old college try by TCU.
