    Why You Need To Care

Oregon will be carrying a couple of notable streaks into the 119th edition of the Civil War—five straight wins this season to climb back into the Top 25, and seven in a row over Oregon State in the series. The Ducks are the Pac-12’s hottest team, topping South Division contender USC and North Division champ Stanford the last two weekends. And after stumbling to a 3-3 start, Mark Helfrich’s kids remarkably still have a shot at a seventh consecutive 10-win season. The Beavers, conversely, reside on the opposite side of the tracks. This year’s worst Pac-12 team is winless in league play, losing the last three by at least 30 points.

    Why Oregon State Will Win

Heated rivals. Absolutely nothing to lose. Anything is possible. Whatever’s left, the Beavers will be bringing it to Eugene this weekend. This is Oregon State’s proverbial bowl game. For Oregon, on the other hand, it’s a game versus a prohibitive underdog, the week after being eliminated in the North Division race. After facing Stanford and USC, the Ducks could hardly be blamed for mailing this one in.

    Why Oregon Will Win

The Ducks have been on a wicked tear since QB Vernon Adams returned to health, averaging nearly 50 points over the last four games. Adams is doing a brilliant job of spreading the wealth around to RB Royce Freeman, WR Darren Carrington and a cast of dynamic playmakers. Meanwhile, the Beavers have been ripped for at least 52 points in each of the last two games, defending like a Big Sky squad that’s facing Pac-12 opponents.

    Player Who Matters

The Beavers are getting little from the quarterback position, which has been saddled with youth and injuries. However, the rookie hurlers do have good feet, allowing them to break containment when the pocket collapses. It figures to be an especially busy day for linebackers Joe Walker and Tyson Coleman, who’ll spend most of their time respecting the run over the pass. The Ducks have had issues against the pass in2015, but that doesn’t figure to get exposed against this opponent.

    What’s Going To Happen?

Oregon’s Civil War domination could reach a new level of disparity this Friday. No amount of rivalry enthusiasm will keep Oregon State competitive against a Duck squad that might be playoff-worthy if the season began today. Oregon will torpedo the Beavers early and often, getting the seniors off the field at some point in the third quarter.
