Oregon vs. Duke predictions and bold picks for Thursday's Sweet 16 showdown in Anaheim.
March 23, 2016Oregon vs. Duke predictions and bold picks for Thursday’s Sweet 16 showdown in Anaheim.
In what world did you ever think you’d see the Duke Blue Devils – defending champion Duke Blue Devils, mind you – traveling clear across the country to Anaheim, Calif. to play, as underdogs, an NCAA Tournament game against a No. 1-seeded Oregon Ducks club. Yup, it’s been that kind of season in college basketball.
When breaking down Oregon vs. Duke, it’s kind of an old money-new money situation. On one sideline, you have Mike Krzyzewski and the blue blooded Blue Devils. Coach K will probably work the refs with a million body blows before the first half is over, all while his uber-talented crop of players get up and down the court in a flury.
On the other hand, there’s Oregon – the No. 1 seed whom much of the public hadn’t seen prior to last weekend but now understands is a legitimate ballclub. No longer are the Ducks a football team with flashy uniforms – there’s substance to the style, now on the hardwood too.
Buckle up for some bold predictions and rock-hard picks. Don’t bring that weak tot action to the party. Here are the goods from the Campus Insiders crew.
Pete Fiutak
Duke won’t get a rebound. Oregon will run-and-gun its way to a win in a wild and fun shootout. Over/under on shots of the Duck cheerleaders: 857.5.
Robert Judin
Grayson Allen will have a big game but won’t be able to carry Duke past Oregon.
Glenn McGraw
Grayson Allen doesn’t slip, hit the floor or slap the court.
Jonathan Bass
Luke Kennard drops seven three-pointers, but never does the three goggle celebration.
