March 10, 2016The Oregon Ducks have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.
Team: Oregon Ducks
Record: 28-6
Conference: Pac-12
Head coach: Dana Altman
How they got here: Won conference tournament
The Pac-12’s champions win by playing an up-tempo style and controlling the glass, and the Ducks’ versatility is something to behold. Sure Dillon Brooks can score, pass and rebound, but so too can Elgin Cook, Tyler Dorsey and Chris Boucher. Boucher is the big who also can knock down the jumper. It’s Oregon’s depth that makes it special.
When Oregon’s shooting is off and it can’t maintain its focus on the defensive end, the Ducks can struggle. It’s how they gave up 91 points in a loss to Colorado and 83 points in a loss to Cal. This isn’t a team that likes to grind it out, and when other teams find their groove, the Ducks will be vulnerable.
Oregon has been under the radar all season, and the Ducks hope to stay that way in the NCAA Tournament. Don’t fall in that trap. This is a very good team, one with Final Four potential, and the Ducks will most likely still be flying when the Sweet 16 rolls around.
