February 25, 2017Former Auburn linebacker commit Robert Hicks is generating a lot of interest. Louisville and Oregon are pushing hard for the 2018 product.
There is quite the battle ensuing for the services of Robert Hicks.
The linebacker and former Auburn verbal commit maintains that Louisville is still in the lead for his commitment. But Willie Taggart and the Oregon staff are in hot pursuit.
Despite being “close” to committing to play for Bobby Petrino and the Cardinals, he wants to officially visit Louisville and Oregon in the fall before making his next verbal pledge.
Hicks, who currently holds 15 offers, also has a lot of interest in Kentucky.
The three-star Class of 2018 product is moving from defensive end to linebacker as a senior at Miami Central High. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder knows it will be a challenge.
“It’s a big transition coming off the edge,” Hicks said. “Now you have to read the guards and tackles and backs and call a defense, basically the quarterback of the defense.”
Hicks, who had committed to Auburn on March 1 of last year, said he is visiting Florida State this weekend and wants to go to Western Kentucky later this spring as well. He is known for his quick feet and change of direction skills, and he is adept at covering running backs out of the backfield as well as rushing the passer.
