1. It wasn’t pretty with too many penalties and mistakes, but Ole Miss got by helped by a 20-yard Damore’ea Stringfellow touchdown catch in the first and two Gary Wunderlich field goals in the second for a 13-3 lead. But Vandy didn’t go away.
2. The Commodores tied it at 13 in the third on a seven-yard Ralph Webb catch, but Ole Miss pulled away for good on a one-yard Robert Nkemdiche run. Jaylen Walton’s three-yard touchdown run in the fourth finally provided some breathing room.
3. Tommy Openshaw hit field goals from 28, 41 and 34 yards out for Vandy.
– Chad Kelly completed 24-of-42 passes for 321 yards and a score with two picks.
– Jaylen Walton ran 21 times for 133 yards and a score, and Laquon Treadwell caught eight passes for 135 yards.
– Penalties: Ole Miss 11 for 119 yards – Vanderbilt 8 for 43 yards.
– Johnny McCrary completed 23-of-42 passes for 194 yards and a score.
