    Sugar Bowl Recap

Score: Ole Miss 48, Oklahoma State 20

Prediction: Ole Miss 41, Oklahoma State 31, Line: Ole Miss -7, o/u: 67

And You Care Because … Oklahoma State scored first on a 26-yard Ben Grogan field goal. Ole Miss tied it on a 34-yard Greg Wunderlich field goal. And then the Rebels opened it up and took the Sugar Bowl over with a huge day from QB Chad Kelly, who threw four touchdown passes and ran for another in the blowout. Ole Miss got up 41-6 helped by two of Laquon Treadwell’s three touchdown catches and a Laremy Tunsil trick play catch from two yards out with two seconds to play to all but end the game going into halftime. J.W. Walsh ran for two late scores for Oklahoma State, but the Ole Miss offense was just too much throughout.

    What Else?

    – Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell caught six passes for 71 yards and three scores. He also completed a 45-yard pass.

    – Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly completed 21-of-33 passes for 302 yards and four scores, and ran ten times for a team-high 73 yards.

    – Oklahoma State QB J.W. Walsh completed 9-of-14 passes for 124 yards, and ran ten times for a team-high 74 yards and two touchdowns.

    – Total Yards: Ole Miss 554 – Oklahoma State 366

    – Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph completed 18-of-31 passes for 179 yards.

    – Ole Miss TE Evan Engram caught six passes for 96 yards.

Game Rating: D+. That was Ole Miss doing everything it was supposed to do after its epic recruiting class of a few years ago. The talent was dominant on both sides of the ball with Chad Kelly showing that he might be every bit as good and as strong as any quarterback in the country coming back. There wasn’t any question Oklahoma State’s defense wouldn’t be able to hold up, but the O was supposed to keep up. Not even close.
