A look at the Ole Miss football schedule for the 2017 season, including the toughest games, toughest stretch and potential trap game.
The Ole Miss football schedule for 2017 has been released, and it includes a brutal road schedule that will test the Rebels’ mettle.
An opening game against South Alabama could be dangerous – they just need to ask rival Mississippi State – and then a visit from UT-Martin dots the first two weeks..
A three-game road stretch is next, as the Rebels travel west to Berkeley to take on California. Ole Miss then has a bye before two straight weeks in the Yellowhammer State: first at Alabama and then at Auburn.
Three home games follow with Vanderbilt, LSU, and Arkansas all traveling to Oxford and then a trip to Lexington to battle Kentucky comes next. The Egg Bowl is in Starkville to end the season.
Looking far ahead, there could be as many as five teams ranked on the Rebels’ schedule entering the season – Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, and Texas A&M..
Sept. 2 – South Alabama
Sept. 9 – UT-Martin
Sept. 16 – at California
Sept. 23 – BYE
Sept. 30 – at Alabama
Oct. 7 – at Auburn
Oct. 14 – Vanderbilt
Oct. 21 – LSU
Oct. 28 – Arkansas
Nov. 4 – at Kentucky
Nov. 11 – Louisiana-Lafayette
Nov. 18 – Texas A&M
Nov. 23 (Thu.) – at Mississippi State
A trip to California will be tiring on the legs, but a bye week will help before the tough task of playing in Tuscaloosa and in Auburn back-to-back weeks.
1. at Alabama (Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL)
The Rebels walked out of Tuscaloosa with a win in 2015. Can they repeat that?
2. at Auburn (Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, AL)
Playing in Auburn is a tough task, but it becomes even more so when it follows a trip to Tuscaloosa.
3. LSU (Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, MS)
The three toughest games come in a four-week time period for the Rebels. Will they still have their legs?
at California
Traveling all the way west against a Pac-12 opponent should be a great experience, but Cal could be a problem for the Rebels – especially coming right before a bye and the start of conference play.
