Non-Conference Games: Hampton, at Appalachian State, at NC State, Massachusetts
Games vs. the West: UTSA, at UTEP, Southern Miss
– The Monarchs are easing their way into the season against Hampton, and they need it having to go on the road for three games in the next four. Going to Appalachian State and NC State won’t be easy.
– If this is going to be a bowl season, ODU has to own the stretch after the date with the Wolfpack getting UTSA, at Charlotte and UMass before getting a week off.
– The games against the West aren’t bad, missing Louisiana Tech and getting Southern Miss at home. Going to UTEP and facing UTSA helps.
– The week off comes at a great time in the middle of the season. Will it help before going on the road to WKU? It can’t hurt, and then comes the game at UTEP. Getting Marshall and Southern Miss at home is a major help.
– WATCH OUT FOR … at Florida Atlantic. Three of the last four games are at home – all in November – and while Marshall and Southern Miss are hardly easy wins, a split would be phenomenal. Beat FAU on the road, and there’s a chance the regular season finale against FIU will be for a bowl.
