Oklahoma vs. Villanova live stream and TV information for Saturday's Final Four matchup between the Sooners and Wildcats.
March 31, 2016The Oklahoma Sooners will battle the Villanova Wildcats Saturday in the first Final Four matchup at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
The Sooners (29-7) reached their first Final Four since 2002 after an 80-68 win over Oregon in last Saturday’s regional final in Anaheim, Calif. Oklahoma was on fire from the field early-on, which propelled it to an 18-point lead at halftime. The Ducks began to figure things out in the second half, but Buddy Hield sunk dagger after dagger to send the Sooners to victory. The difference was Oklahoma’s shooting and its defensive prowess. The Sooners shot 50 percent from three and 46.6 percent overall. The Ducks were held to 19 percent from deep and 38.9 percent overall. Hield finished with 37 points on 8-of-13 shooting from downtown.
The Wildcats (33-5) stunned the nation as they upended the Kansas Jayhawks, 64-59, in last Saturday’s regional final in Louisville, Ky. Villanova hung tough, capitalizing on Kansas mistakes in the waning moments to stave off a late Jayhawks run. The Wildcats were able to get it done by converting at the free throw line and forcing turnovers. Villanova went 18-of-19 from the foul line (94.7 percent), while pressuring Kansas into 16 turnovers. Ryan Arcidiacono, Josh Hart and Kris Jenkins each scored 13 points apiece to lead the Wildcats.
Oklahoma and Villanova will meet up for the fifth time ever on Saturday with the series currently tied. The Sooners and Wildcats squared off earlier this season, and Oklahoma took that game, 78-55, on Dec. 7.
Below is everything you need to know about the matchup, including the Oklahoma vs. Villanova live stream, prediction and game notes.
Can the Wilcats neutralize Buddy Hield the same way as they did Perry Ellis a week ago? That’s the question the whole nation is seeking to find out. But Hield and Ellis are two different players. If Buddy isn’t dropping 30-plus points, he will look for his teammates to knock down shots. This one will be closer than their previous meeting, but the Sooners’ superior guard play will prevail.
