    Why You Need To Care

The Oklahoma Sooners are the No. 3-ranked team in all of college basketball, and it’s no wonder why with their 11-0 record as we head into conference play.

Their first Big 12 opponent will be arguably the toughest matchup the Sooners have seen thus far as they welcome No. 11 Iowa State to the Lloyd Noble Center for their second ranked opponent of the season.

The Cyclones come into this one at 11-1. Their lone defeat came at the hands of Northern Iowa, who took down Iowa State, 81-79, on a neutral floor. The Cyclones have bounced back nicely and are looking for their third straight win since then.

    Why Oklahoma Will Win

Buddy Hield has been a man possessed this season. He’s averaging 24.9 points per game and has established himself as an elite scorer. Oklahoma will have to turn to him for the bulk of the scoring output. The Sooners will have to get a hand up in the faces of Iowa State’s shooters and force as many contested jumpers as possible.

    Why Iowa State Will Win

Honestly, throw double teams and different looks at Hield. The Cyclones have to try and force him into some off-balance shot attempts and contest everything. They can’t let Hield get to the basket. Abdel Nader and Matt Thomas have to be efficient with their three-point shooting, and Monte Morris has to facilitate some open looks.

    What’s Going To Happen?

Morris will burn the Sooners with his vision. He’ll find Thomas for some solid looks behind the arc. But everyone is expecting Hield to be as tenacious offensively as he’s been all season long. He’ll put up at least 20 points on Iowa State and spark some momentous scoring runs for Oklahoma.
