    Why You Need To Care

The No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners finally got their hands on the top ranking in the AP Top 25, but the joy didn’t last long as Oklahoma fell to Iowa State on Monday.

The Sooners will now take their 15-2 record into Waco, Texas to visit the Baylor Bears.

No. 13 Baylor is 15-3 and riding a five-game winning streak. The Bears enter with a 5-1 conference record while Oklahoma comes in 4-2 in Big 12 play.

Baylor leads the Big 12 standings, but the Sooners are going to make it a battle.

    Why Oklahoma Will Win

Buddy Hield can be trusted to score … a lot. He’s been doing it all season long. Hield put up 23 points on 10-of-23 shooting in the loss to Iowa State. Isaiah Cousins backed him up with 26 points. But the Sooners were outrebounded by nine and can’t afford to get beaten on the glass by the Bears. Ryan Spangler has to do his share on the boards and make shots when Hield draws attention.

    Why Baylor Will Win

Taurean Prince went off on Kansas State for 19 points on 7-of-18 shooting, but he can’t go 2-of-7 from behind the arc against Oklahoma. Missed threes and long rebounds can lead to Hield making plays in transition, which Baylor will have to contain by getting back on defense, stopping the ball and forcing Hield to pick up his dribble. Rico Gathers can make a big difference by putting in work on the glass and getting to the free throw line, as he went 11-of-15 from the charity stripe last time out against the Wildcats.

    What’s Going To Happen?

Do all of you have your tickets to the Buddy Hield show? He’ll be motivated after taking a second loss in five games. Hield and Cousins will each light it up offensively, but Spangler won’t be very efficient from the field, and that will allow the Bears to stay in it. Prince and Al Freeman will lead the scoring attack, but the Sooners will steal one on the road.
