November 13, 2015The No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners will roll into Waco, Texas on Saturday night to battle the No. 6 Baylor Bears in a high-profile Big 12 affair.
The Sooners (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) are winners of four-straight games and have topped 50-plus points in all four. They’re coming off a 52-16 blowout of Iowa State. The Cyclones struck first with a field goal, but Oklahoma exploded, outscoring Iowa State 52-6 until the Cyclones punched in a late touchdown. The three-headed monster of Baker Mayfield (23-31, 342 yards, 3 TD), Semaje Perine (13 car, 95 yards, TD) and Sterling Shepard (4 rec, 94 yards, TD) led the way offensively for the Sooners. Oklahoma gained 310 more yards than Iowa State (684-374) and averaged 5.3 more yards per play (9.5-4.2).
The Bears (8-0, 5-0 Big 12) are one of two undefeated teams in the Big 12 but will be challenged by an AP Top 25 team for the first time this season. Kansas State gave Baylor a scare last week, but the Bears still pulled out the win. Baylor led by as many as 21 early in the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats quickly put two scores together to make it a one-possession game. After Baylor kicker Chris Callahan missed a field goal, Baylor safety Terrell Burt picked off Kody Cook on the first play of the possession, sealing the victory for the Bears. In his first career start, Jarrett Stidham passed for 419 yards on 23-of-33 attempts and three touchdowns. His 419 yards passing were the 10th most and the 17th 400-yard passing game in program history. Corey Coleman also had a big day notching 216 yards receiving on 11 catches with two touchdowns. Coleman leads the nation in yards receiving per game (147.3) and touchdowns receiving (20).
Oklahoma and Baylor will meet Saturday for the 25th time dating back to 1901. The Sooners have a 21-3 advantage all-time and a 10-2 mark on the road in Waco. The Bears, however, have won three on the last four meetings — including a 48-14 win last year on the road.
Below is everything you need to know about the game, including the Oklahoma vs. Baylor online live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.
Oklahoma is about to make a very, very big statement. Jarrett Stidham won’t look like a freshman, but the Sooner defense will come up with enough big plays to slow the machine down, while the Air Raid OU offense will get rolling from the start and won’t stop until it has a signature win. Baker Mayfield enters the Heisman race after this week.
