The Oklahoma Sooners have hired Calvin Thibodeaux as their next defensive line coach.

Bob Stoops has put in a lot of work to turn Norman, Okla. into more than just a football city. He wants to have a family atmosphere surrounding his Sooners.

Stoops’ latest coaching hire will certainly help accomplish that as the Oklahoma head coach added one of his former players to his coaching staff on Tuesday.

According to Rivals, Stoops hired former Oklahoma Sooners defensive lineman Calvin Thibodeaux to coach the same unit he used to play on.

Thibodeaux spent the 2015 season as the defensive line coach for the Kansas Jayhawks after putting in three seasons with Tulsa coaching the defensive tackles.

The Sooners were tied for No. 6 in the country with 40 sacks in 2015. However, Oklahoma was ranked No. 53 in rushing defense, having given up 2,102 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns on the ground.

Thibodeaux will try and shape up those numbers in his first year on the Sooners coaching staff.
