An Oklahoma football recruiting update as Bob Stoops looks to ride the Sooners’ 2015 success into the 2017 recruiting class.

The 2015 college football season was highly successful for Oklahoma. Head coach Bob Stoops led his team to its first College Football Playoff, and Baker Mayfield established himself as a Heisman Trophy candidate for the 2016 season.

Rather than resting on his team’s laurels, Stoops has beefed up his staff in order to keep recruiting fiercely.

One notable hire is Steve Spurrier Jr, who will help pound the pavement for the Sooners. Spurrier, most recently the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator for the South Carolina Gamecocks, was the receivers coach with Oklahoma from 1999 to 2001. He’ll begin his second stint in Norman, Okla. as Oklahoma’s director of high school recruiting and offensive specialist.

Stoops also brought back one of his former defensive linemen, Calvin Thibodeaux, to coach the Sooners’ defensive line.

Oklahoma is re-establishing a family atmosphere and championship tone, which will have a huge impact on the recruiting trail.

Below is a breakdown of Oklahoma’s 2017 recruiting class as it currently stands.
