Former Oklahoma star Gabe Ikard, who’s now playing in the NFL, was critical of LSU following the news that top recruit Jacob Phillips flipped his commitment from the Sooners to the Tigers.

New LSU head coach Ed Orgeron flexed some of his recruiting muscles on Thursday when he flipped four-star inside linebacker Jacob Phillips from the Oklahoma Sooners. Phillips is the No. 5 inside linebacker and No. 91 overall player in the country.

The news didn’t sit well with former Oklahoma All-American Gabe Ikard, who took to Twitter insinuating that LSU paid Phillips. He also stated that he appreciates the integrity of Sooners head coach Bob Stoops.

Phillips posted the following when announcing his decision.

“This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever made in my life. i would like to truly thank the University of Oklahoma, the team, the coaches, the fans and Coach Kish. All of you have given me a lot of support, and I am very thankful for that. My family and I have prayed long and hard about what is best for my future, and, at this point, I have decided to decommit from Oklahoma and commit to LSU. I feel this is in the best interest of my family and myself, and I ask you to respect this. Thank you again and God bless.”

With his decision, Oklahoma dropped one spot to No. 5 in the rankings, while LSU climbed to No. 6.
