October 21, 2016Ohio State vs. Penn State prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen in Saturday’s Big Ten East battle between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions.
So Ohio State didn’t look its best against Wisconsin, but that’s because the Badgers have been known to keep even the most high-powered of offenses in check. The Buckeyes should get right back to their usual high-scoring ways this weekend against Penn State, which surrendered 49 points to a Michigan team that has a similar attack to Ohio State. Curtis Samuel will be the star in this one with at least two touchdowns, and the Buckeyes send much of the Nittany Lions’ crowd to the bar early in an easy win.
Ohio State clearly got exposed against Wisconsin, but Penn State isn’t Wisconsin. J.T. Barrett will throw for 250-plus yards and a couple of touchdowns. He’ll also find his way into the end zone with his legs. Curtis Samuel and Mike Weber will both have better games. The Buckeyes will hang 40-plus on the Nittany Lions.
The Buckeyes had trouble with Wisconsin under the lights at Camp Randall Stadium last week, which served as a bit of a wakeup call before J.T. Barrett put the offense on his back and led them to victory. Behind the dual-threat Barrett, the Buckeyes will have an easier time scoring points in Happy Valley. While the Nittany Lions ran for 372 yards in a 38-14 win over Maryland on Oct. 8, they will struggle to reach even half of that figure in a comfortable Buckeyes road victory.
I’m quite certain that whoever decided to give Ohio its name had no idea that people would obnoxiously take pride in spelling it so many years later. You would think fans solved quantum physics the way they react when yelling that chant. On the field, the Buckeyes are freaking loaded, and Penn State is not. Buckeyes win big. In the stands, O-H my god get a better cheer.
