November 20, 2015The No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes will host the No. 9 Michigan State Spartans on Saturday afternoon in one of the most highly anticipated Big Ten games of the season.
The Buckeyes (10-0, 6-0 Big Ten) look to extend their 23-game winning streak, which is the longest active FBS streak, but they will face their biggest test of the season thus far in the Spartans. Last time out, Ohio State got off to a slow start, but was able to finish off the Illinois Fighting Illini 28-3. The Buckeyes welcomed back quarterback J.T. Barrett from a one-game suspension, and the sophomore performed admirably in his return with 224 total yards — plus a touchdown in the air and on the ground. It was another game and another 100-yard rushing performance for Ezekiel Elliott, his 15th straight 100-yard game to be exact, which leads the FBS. Elliott continues his dominant campaign as he leads the Big Ten in rushing yards per game (161.7) and is now third on Ohio State’s all-time rushing list (3,565 yards).
The Spartans (9-1, 5-1 Big Ten) got back on track after their heartbreaking loss to Nebraska a couple weeks ago. Michigan State made easy work of the Maryland Terrapins last week in a 24-7 victory despite losing Connor Cook for the second half due to a shoulder injury. Fortunately for the Spartans, backup quarterback Tyler O’Connor and the Michigan State defense did enough to get past Maryland. O’Connor came in for Cook in the first quarter and got the Spartans on the board first with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Macgarrett Kings Jr. Michigan State helped O’Connor by limiting the Terrapins to 289 total yards and forcing five turnovers. One of those turnovers was an interception by Riley Bullough, which he returned 44 yards for a touchdown to give the Spartans the lead for good.
Saturday’s game will be the 44th between Ohio State and Michigan State. The Buckeyes lead the series 29-14 and are looking to build on last years 49-37 win in East Lansing, Mich.
Below is everything you need to know about the game, including the Ohio State vs. Michigan State online live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.
Is this when Ohio State shows it’s ready to be special again, or is this when Michigan State rises up and shows off by taking down the defending champions? It might be a little bit of both, but it also might be that Ohio State is just better. J.T. Barrett was good throughout last year, but the Michigan State game is when everything really took off last season. This time, it’ll be Elliott who becomes the superstar making all the headlines. MSU will be good, but this is what the Buckeyes have been waiting for.
