Ohio State Football Recruiting Update: March 30, 2016

An Ohio State football recruiting update for the week of March 30, 2016.

Ohio State, who still sits at No. 1 in the class rankings, hosted 5-star prospect Tate Martell for an unofficial visit this past week. Martell, the nation’s No. 1 quarterback, has been committed to Texas A&M since Aug. 20, though with both Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray transferring away from the program there has been chatter the Aggies could lose out on Martell, too.

If that were to happen, the good news for Ohio State is they already have Martell’s teammate, 4-star defensive tackle Haskell Garrett, committed to the program. So there’s some added incentive for Martell to potentially flip to Ohio State at some point down the line.

There were a couple new offers made by Urban Meyer’s staff as well. The Buckeyes offered 2017 safety A.J. Terrell and 2018 cornerback Brendan Radley-Hiles.

Terrell has the height (6-foot-2) but is a little on the lighter side (171 lbs). He has great closing speed and ball skills. Terrell makes plays on the ball whenever he has a chance to do so, and there’s a chance he ends up moving over to cornerback with his man coverage skills.

Radley-HIles is a little smaller (5-foot-10, 175 lbs) but also does a good job of attacking the ball in the air. He needs to work on anticipating routes and flipping his hips, but he can hold his own in one-on-one coverage.
