Ohio State Early Enrollees List For 2016 Recruiting Class

Ohio State early enrollees list and breakdown of prospects from the 2016 recruiting class who will be stepping on campus in January.

Ohio State early enrollees for the 2016 recruiting cycle.

Ohio State’s run for a second straight national championship was derailed by the Michigan State Spartans, but the Buckeyes managed to go out on a high note by thumping rival Michigan and then Notre Dame in the Battlefrog Fiesta Bowl.

That was the story of this season, but the future has yet to be written for Ohio State football.

The first chapter begins with the 2016 recruiting class and the early enrollees stepping onto campus in Columbus, Ohio in January.

Below is a list of the prospects who are getting an early start on their college career:

  1. Jonathon Cooper – 5 stars, No. 2 Weak-side DE
  2. Austin Mack – 4 stars, No. 10 WR
  3. Antonio Williams – 4 stars, No. 6 RB
  4. Tuf Borland – 4 stars, No. 20 OLB
  5. Tyler Gerald – 4 stars, No. 6 OG
  6. Malik Barrow – 4 stars, No. 32 DT
  7. Ohio State had the No. 1 recruiting class (per 247Sports Composite) until LSU made a quick surge to take the top ranking, sliding the Buckeyes down to No. 2 in the class rankings.

Ohio State has 18 total commits in the class. Two of those are rated as 5-star prospects, and 11 are 4-star players.

The Buckeyes remain in the running for 4-star quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr., who’s a Maryland commit.

Rashard Lawrence, a 5-star defensive tackle, and Demetris Robertson, a 5-star athlete, are still being targeted by Urban Meyer. If Ohio State lands those two, it’s hard to imagine the Buckeyes not jumping back into the No. 1 class ranking on National Signing Day.
