Who were the best former Ohio State Buckeyes in the history of the NFL draft? Who were the best Ohio State draft picks for the teams that drafted them?

The offensive linemen from the Buckeyes are as good as any school has ever produced for the pros. It’s a deep, talented bunch with plenty of Hall of Fame talent.

However, defensive line was a problem, and the quarterback who made the cut made his name as a career backup – and there really wasn’t a No. 2 option.

The defensive back situation is strange. Most of the picks were great, but only played a few years with the teams that drafted them. There weren’t many options, though, because …

    Here are the ground rules.

    – A player needed to have played most of his career – and have done most of his notable things – for the NFL team that drafted him. If a player like Cris Carter stinks for Philly, and is a Hall of Famer for Minnesota, that’s a bad draft pick for the Eagles. Being an undrafted free agent is okay, too.
    – Longevity is a big deal, especially if he was a steady starter for the team that drafted him.

    – There are some liberties taken for some of the younger players, assuming they’ll keep on producing at a high level. Stunningly, almost none of them made the cut.

    – If you’re a Hall of Famer – or near it – you’re almost certainly in.

Jim Marshall would’ve been an easy choice for the defensive line, but he was drafted by Cleveland and spent most of his career for Minnesota. The same goes for Dick LeBeau, who was a Hall of Famer for Detroit after being drafted and cut by Cleveland.

With all that in mind, the All-Time Great Ohio State Buckeye Draft Team.
