October 30, 2015The No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish will venture to the “City of Brotherly Love” to take on the No. 21 Temple Owls on Saturday night.
Rested from a bye week, the Irish (6-1) have won two straight and are looking to build on their rivalry win over USC a couple weeks ago. Notre Dame’s three headed offensive juggernaut of DeShone Kizer (15-of-24, 227 yards, 2 TDs), C.J. Prosise (19 car, 143 yards, 2 TDs) and Will Fuller (3 rec, 131, TD) led the Irish, but the Trojans showed fight and came back from a two touchdown deficit. Notre Dame was able to rally in the fourth, as DeShone Kizer hit Corey Robinson in the end zone to give the Irish a 38-31 lead, which ultimately sealed the victory.
The Owls (7-0, 4-0 AAC) are one of the American Athletic teams that are shocking the college football world. Temple is 7-0, and with a win over Notre Dame would move to 8-0 for the first time in the program’s history. Last time out, the Owls survived a scare from East Carolina, pulling out the 24-14 win. Temple trailed 14-10 heading into the fourth quarter, but a 23-yard touchdown catch from Robby Anderson and a 14-yard run from Jahad Thomas helped the Owls escape. Tyler Matakevich led the defense with 13 tackles and recorded his team leading fourth interception. Temple now has 12 interceptions in its first seven games, which leads the conference.
Notre Dame and Temple will matchup for just the second time ever on Saturday. The Irish took the first meeting 28-6 back in 2013.
Below is everything you need to know about the matchup, including the Notre Dame vs. Temple online live stream options, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.
While the Owls harbor a Power Five D, the offense will prove too inconsistent and one-dimensional to defeat a program of Notre Dame’s caliber. Yeah, the Irish will need to grind for every point, but Prosise has a knack for loosening up defenses, and Fuller a penchant for sprinting through them. After rallying the last two games, Temple’s comeback bid will fall short in Week 9.
