The No. 6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish will travel to Northern California to take on the No. 9 Stanford Cardinal on Saturday in another edition of the longstanding rivalry.

The Fighting Irish (10-1) saw their position fall in the College Football Playoff Rankings this week, despite beating Boston College, 19-16, at Fenway Park last week. Notre Dame’s offense committed five turnovers. C.J. Prosise left the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury and KeiVarae Russell suffered a broken bone in his leg. Both players are in doubt for Saturday’s contest. DeShone Kizer overcame his three interceptions by amassing 320 yards through the air and throwing a pair of touchdowns. Chris Brown and Amir Carlisle combined for 13 receptions and 201 yards, while hauling in a touchdown each. Will Fuller added three catches for 72 yards.

The Cardinal (9-2, 8-1 Pac-12) are also still in the College Football Playoff picture, but they’re going to need some help from other teams and big performances against Notre Dame and USC/UCLA in the Pac-12 title game. Stanford finished out their Pac-12 regular season schedule on a high note with a 35-22 win over California last week. It was another game Christian McCaffrey dominated, gaining a school-record 392 all-purpose yards with two total touchdowns — a 49-yard reception and 98-yard kick return. McCaffrey tallied a school-record ninth straight 100-yard rushing game, but got some help from the other members of the Cardinal backfield, as Bryce Love and Remound Wright combined for three scores. The win allowed Stanford to capture the Pac-12 north title and take home the Axe for a fifth straight time.

Dating back to 1905, Notre Dame and Stanford will meet for the 30th time on Saturday. The Irish lead the series 19-10 and have won two of the last three games against the Cardinal.

Below is everything you need to know about the game, including the Notre Dame vs. Stanford online live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.

    Prediction

Kelly deserves strong Coach of the Year consideration for the way he’s captained the ship this year. But he and his ND squad will fall a little short in Northern California, as McCaffrey enhances his Heisman case. The sophomore will be the game’s MVP, combining with Hogan to give the Irish fits on defense. Kizer will have success against the Cardinal secondary, but more red-zone stalls will end playoff hopes, to the delight of the Big Ten and the Big 12.
