I’m fully convinced Brian Kelly leaves the second he’s offered an NFL job, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens after this season. Our colleague Dave Miller is a Detroit Lions fan and thinks Kelly-to-the-Lions is happening. Until then, Kelly will continue to underachieve and throw anyone but himself under the bus for the Irish’s shortcomings. We’ll see who he blames after N.C. State wins in front of its home crowd behind a big game from quarterback Ryan Finley.

    Robert Judin

To NC State’s credit, Ryan Finley has taken care of the rock. He’s done well and spread the ball around. Plus, the Notre Dame defense has been laughable this season, allowing 461 yards of total offense per game. But I’m putting this in DeShone Kizer’s hands. He’ll have a big game and lead the Irish to a win.

The Irish haven’t had too many problems moving up and down the field this season, and it won’t be an issue against the Wolfpack defense. However, Dave Doeren’s offense should have no problem doing the same to the Irish defense. While it wasn’t pretty last week, Notre Dame may have come together a bit as a team during its wild win over Syracuse. This week in Raleigh the Irish defense will make one key stop late in the game to escape with a 37-31 win.

I have a cast on my foot for the next 4-6 weeks, and I still think I could score against this Notre Dame defense. Head coach Brian Kelly can place all the blame on other people as long as he wants, but this is his team, and it is not good.
And are we really sure that NC State is any good even with its 3-1 record? The Wolfpack have no quality wins – don’t try to tell me Wake Forest counts – to stand on this season, and lost to a marginal ECU team in Week 2. Notre Dame pulls this one out due to the play of its offense and in spite of its defense, and Kelly releases a book entitled “How To Get Paid Millions For Not Living Up To Expectations.”
