The No. 17 North Carolina Tar Heels will travel to Blacksburg, Va. for a meeting with the Virginia Tech Hokies in hope to spoil Frank Beamer’s final home game as head coach.

The Tar Heels (9-1, 6-0 ACC) have won nine straight games since dropping the season opener, including last week’s 59-21 drubbing of Miami. North Carolina was up 45-0 midway through the third quarter before the Hurricanes finally got on the board. Marquise Williams continues to be one of the best quarterbacks the Atlantic Coast Conference has to offer, accounting for 206 total yards and four touchdowns (three rushing, one passing). The Tar Heels rushing attack combined for 298 yards and six touchdowns on the day. In addition to Williams, Elijah Hood (17 car, 132 yards TD), T.J. Logan (4 car, 25 yards, TD) and Charles Brunson (4 car, 10 yards, TD) all played a part in the stellar performance. After scoring 66 points against Duke and 59 against Miami, UNC set the ACC record for points in back-to-back games with 125.

The Hokies (5-5, 3-3 ACC) are winners of two straight and are looking to extend that streak in Beamer’s 180th and final home game as Virginia Tech head coach. Last time out, the Hokies squeaked out a 23-21 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta. Virginia Tech trailed 21-17 in the fourth quarter, but it took the lead on a touchdown run by Travon McMillian and held on for the victory. McMillian had a big day for the Hokies, finishing with 24 carries, 135 yards rushing and two scores. It was his third straight game with at least 100 yards rushing, and McMillian is now averaging 115.4 yards rushing per game during the past five contests.

North Carolina and Virginia Tech will meet up for the 38th time on Saturday, and the Hokies lead the all-time series 20-11-6. The series has been close recently, though, as four of the last eight meetings have been decided by seven points or fewer.

Below is everything you need to know about the game, including the North Carolina vs. Virginia Tech online live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.

    Prediction

Emotions will be sky high this week in Blacksburg. And that energy will keep the upset in play past halftime. UNC is playing too well right now to be derailed by a Hokie squad that just never seemed to click over the first two months. At some point in the third quarter, Williams and the Tar Heels will go on a run, leaving behind a spotty Virginia Tech offense. Beamer will receive a hero’s send-off from an adoring home crowd. Bowl eligibility, however, will have to wait another week.
