North Carolina vs. Notre Dame picks for the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight matchup between the Tar Heels and Fighting Irish.

This North Carolina team resembles Roy Williams’ championship squads of old. There’s senior leadership, solid guard play, and efficient scoring down in the post. Moreover, the Tar Heels are peaking at the perfect time with players like Isaiah Hicks beginining to play their best basketball.

When motivated, there is no better team in the country than the Tar Heels. They’ve finally bought into playing consistent defense, and can kick into gear at anytime. If a team loses focus for even five minutes they could look up and find themselves on the downside of a 20-0 run.

Mike Brey received an endowment for his coaching job at Notre Dame, but the Fighting Irish certainly aren’t resting on their laurels. This team is a proud bunch, several of whom were part of last season’s ACC champions – they know how to come up big in the moment.

Consider that Notre Dame took down the Wisconsin Badgers, a club who was an eyelash from winning last year’s national championship. Between this road to the Elite Eight and their brutal schedule in the ACC, this veteran-laden team has some serious chops.

Below are the Campus Insiders North Carolina vs. Notre Dame picks.

    Jonathan Bass

North Carolina is the most talented team in the tournament top to bottom, and they’re peaking at the right time. Heels make it to the Final Four.

    Pete Fiutak

It’s over. There’s no reason to play the rest of the NCAA Tournament. Kansas and Villanova are playing well, but North Carolina has ramped up its game to a whole other level showing off the depth, the size, and the offensive firepower that’s unstoppable right now. Notre Dame keeps finding a way, but it’s about to run into a buzzsaw.

    Glenn McGraw

Notre Dame doesn’t have the talent to match up with North Carolina. Tar Heels run the Irish out of the building and enter the Final Four as the odds on favorite to win it all.

    Robert Judin

Notre Dame has shown some real guts through the first three rounds, but against North Carolina, the Irish will need a lot more than guts. Roy Williams’ team is just too good across the board.
