Nigel Warrior commits to Tennessee on National Signing Day. It's a huge pickup for the the Volunteers.
February 3, 2016The No. 2 safety in the 2016 class has found a home and announced where his college football career will take place. Nigel Warrior committed to Tennessee on National Signing Day.
Landing the 5-star safety is a huge pickup for the Volunteers.
“They weren’t thinking about just football, they were thinking about real life,” Warrior said on why he chose the Vols.
Warrior picked Tennessee over Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and LSU. Butch Jones surely has to be excited to get him plugged into the defense.
It’s never easy to point at a guy and say, “Hey, he’s going to be the next Eric Berry,” and that’s not what’s happening here. However, there are some similarities between Nigel Warrior and the former Tennessee Volunteers free safety. Like Berry, Warrior shows a natural instinct to lead, and he’s vocal in pre-snap defense, helping make sure everyone is lined up the way they should be. Warrior attacks the ball in the air like Berry and looks to turn picks into six when he gets his hands on the ball. He certainly doesn’t hit the same way Berry does, but he can evolve into an all-around solid safety.
