Nigel Knott committed to Alabama two days before National Signing Day.

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide got off to a hot start on Monday. With two days before the fax machines fire up for National Signing Day, Alabama added a commitment from 4-star cornerback Nigel Knott.

Knott, the No. 17 cornerback and No. 196 overall player in the class of 2016, chose the Crimson Tide over Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Oregon. He made the announcement on his birthday in a video released by Bleacher Report.

    He’s the 18th commitment in Alabama’s 2016 class and the Tide’s 12th 4-star commit.

Alabama fans can expect much more to come in the next two days, and landing Knott is certainly a positive beginning to the week.

    Dee Milliner CB

Much like Dee Milliner, a fellow Alabama cornerback, Knott has elite athleticism and speed. He’s really improved his technique and hips in man coverage, and he takes pride in reading the quarterback’s eyes. He could evolve into a starting cornerback by his sophomore year for the Tide. He’s that good.
