Michigan picked up another potential star on National Signing Day as 4-star wide receiver Nico Collins picked the Wolverines over Alabama and Georgia.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff didn’t need to jump into a pool fully clothed this time to land another standout wide receiver.

Four-star Alabama native Nico Collins chose Michigan on National Signing Day over the Crimson Tide and Georgia, among plenty of other offers. Collins’ pledge comes days after Harbaugh and Wolverines assistant coach Pep Hamilton were on video jumping into a pool as 4-star receiver Oliver Martin announced his commitment to Michigan over his hometown Iowa Hawkeyes and Notre Dame.

Collins is ranked as the No. 24 wide receiver in the nation and No. 178 player overall in the 2017 class. Schools fell in love with his 6-foot-5 frame and his ability to use it well to go up and make tough catches while shielding defenders. Jim Harbaugh’s final pitch to Collins was how well Michigan could put his size to use.

He took an official visit to Georgia this past weekend and tweeted pictures from his time there, but he ultimately decided that Michigan was the better fit.

Michigan’s wide receiver group is among the best in the class of 2017. Five-star wideout Donovan Peoples-Jones and four-star standout Tarik Black join Martin and Collins as pass catchers who give the Wolverines plenty of depth at the position for at least the next three years.
