The Sun Belt champion hasn’t been able to make any sort of a national splash despite going unbeaten in conference play and going on a run of eight wins in a row. The losses to USC, Missouri and Toledo aren’t bad, but the best win on the season was at Appalachian State – it’s time to prove that it’s good enough to be seen as a true ten-win team. The Sun Belt always brings it in this bowl, and with a high-powered offense that hung 52 or more in each of the last three games and 40 or more in eight of the last nine. Get ready for the Red Wolves to power things up in what should be a shootout.
Louisiana Tech enters the postseason with a sour taste in its mouth
Yeah, with a bowl victory the Bulldogs will string together back-to-back nine-win seasons for the first time since playing in the Southland Conference four decades ago. And that’s not to be discounted. But anything less than a second straight Conference USA West Division crown wasn’t going to cut it for this veteran squad, especially after it landed transfer Florida QB Jeff Driskel in the offseason. However, hopes of a rematch with Western Kentucky came crashing down in a 58-24 implosion at the hands of Southern Miss in the regular season finale.
