New Mexico vs. Nevada prediction and online live stream information for Wednesday’s Mountain West Tournament game.

The No. 4 seed New Mexico Lobos will battle the No. 5 Nevada Wolf Pack on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas.

The Lobos (17-14, 10-8 MW) received a bye from the first round and the No. 4 seed thanks to a tiebreaker with their 71-66 win over the Nevada. That win over the Wolf Pack last time out snapped a four-game losing streak for New Mexico. It did commit more turnovers than Nevada (15-8), but it made up for it my holding a 33-20 advantage on the glass. The Lobos shared the basketball, which allowed four of their five starters to finish in double-figures. Elijah Brown led that group with a team-high 17 points, and Obij Aget posted a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds.

The Wolf Pack’s (18-12, 10-8 MW) loss to the Lobos has them riding into the Mountain West Tournament on a two-game skid. Nevada has to shoot better from the field than it did the last time these teams met. The Pack shot a dismal 21.7 percent from downtown and 36.8 overall. When they did make shots, they were off the 15 turnovers they forced, which kept them in the game. Tyron Criswell logged 39 minutes for Nevada and led all scorers with 20 points.

The Wolf Pack will hope the third time is the charm against the Lobos Thursday, as it tries to avoid the season sweep. New Mexico won, 88-76, back on New Year’s Eve in addition to last week’s victory.

Below is everything you need to know about the matchup, including the New Mexico vs. Nevada prediction, online live stream, and game notes.

In a rematch of last week’s season finale, does the Wolf Pack have what it takes to flip the script against the Lobos? Better believe it.

It comes down to the Pack’s ability to knock down shots. The defensive intensity has been there all season for the Nevada, including the prior meetings against New Mexico. If it can get easy looks at the rim off turnovers, it’ll open things up and allow the Wolf Pack to do what it wants offensively.  Eric Musselman has done a great job for this program in his first year, and he’ll put his team in the best position to win a close game. The Wolf Pack will advance to the semifinals on Friday.

Prediction: Nevada 78, New Mexico 72
