Why San Jose State Will Win

The Spartans ought to get their wish of establishing the run with league-leading rusher Tyler Ervin. Ervin averages 137 yards per game, a warning sign for a Nevada team allowing 4.5 yards per carry. San Jose State also boasts the league’s best pass defense, thanks to the route-jumping skills of veteran corners Cleveland Wallace III and Jimmy Pruitt.

    Why Nevada Will Win

In the anticipated battle of the ground games, San Jose State has Ervin, but the Pack sports a one-two punch of James Butler and Don Jackson. And while Nevada has struggled against the run, the Spartans have been worse, yielding almost five yards per carry.

    What’s Going To Happen?

The outcome of this weekend’s game in Reno, which will have bowl eligibility implications, hinges on who runs the ball more efficiently. Edge to the Wolf Pack. San Jose State has one terrific player, but Nevada has depth and options, including nimble QB Tyler Stewart.
